FAQ

Privacy policies, answered

Does a small business need a privacy policy?

Most likely. Businesses with turnover over $3 million must have one, and so must many smaller businesses, including health providers.

Can I copy another business's policy?

No. Your privacy policy has to describe what your business collects, why, and who you share it with. A copied policy will get those facts wrong, and the wording is likely protected by copyright.

How often should I review it?

At least once a year, and whenever you add a new tool or supplier or the law changes. Australian law requires your privacy policy to stay up to date.
