Do Australian websites legally need a cookie banner?
Not by name, but the Privacy Act requires covered businesses to tell people when they collect personal information, and analytics and ad pixels can collect it. A cookie banner that holds tracking until visitors choose, and records their answer, is the simplest way to meet that obligation.
Will a banner hurt my conversions?
No. Visitors can still browse, buy and enquire as normal. Your analytics may record fewer visits, because some people will decline tracking. A short banner with equal accept and reject buttons keeps friction low.
Does it work with Google Analytics 4?
